Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and escort you to your hotel in Thimphu, the vibrant capital city of Bhutan. Your journey begins with a picturesque drive along the winding road that follows the beautiful Paro River.
Experience the grandeur of Tashichho Dzong, also known as ‘The Fortress of the Dharma Raja.’ It has traditionally been the seat of the Druk Desi, the head of Bhutan’s civil government.
Note: Tashichho Dzong is open during weekdays after office hours (5pm onwards)and from 9am to 5pm on weekends.
On the second day, experience the heart of Bhutanese culture and tradition as you explore these remarkable sites in Thimphu. Visit the Memorial Chorten (Buddhist funeral monument) and enjoy panoramic city views from Changangkha Lhakhang Temple. Explore the Motithang Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s unique national animal.
Discover ancient texts at the National Library of Bhutan and witness traditional crafts at the School of Art and Handicraft, renowned for its Thangka paintings and mud statues. Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Bhutan’s capital city.
Today, your journey continues with a personalized exploration of Thimphu before we head to the enchanting town of Paro. Our first stop is the historic Simtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan, believed to guard the region against evil spirits. Its name translates to ‘Atop a Demon’. This historical site also houses the Rigney School for Dzongkha and monastic studies, attended by both monks and laypeople.
As we drive through picturesque landscapes, we’ll make our way to Paro, where you’ll be captivated by the majestic Paro Dzong, also known as Ringpung Dzong, meaning ‘Fortress on a Heap of Jewels’. This magnificent structure is a prime example of Bhutanese architecture and one of the most renowned dzongs in the country.
Immerse yourself in the rich history and stunning architecture as you explore these significant landmarks.
Embark on a memorable hike to Taktsang Monastery, famously known as ‘Tiger’s Nest’, perched on a cliff at 3,000 meters above Paro. This iconic site, a symbol of Bhutan, is where Guru Padmasambhava meditated in one of its thirteen caves. Experience breathtaking views and spiritual tranquility during this enriching journey.
Later, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest Himalayan Buddhist temples, built in the 7th century near Paro Airport. Explore the serene grounds and soak in the profound cultural and spiritual significance of this sacred site.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a scenic flight to Bumthang. Upon arrival, freshen up before embarking on a journey to explore ancient monasteries that hold deep cultural and spiritual significance. Immerse yourself in Bumthang’s rich cultural heritage and spiritual sites on this captivating day of exploration.
Begin at Jakar Dzong, known as the ‘Fortress of the White Bird’, where Guru Rinpoche first visited Bhutan, introducing Buddhism.
Explore Jambay Lhakhang, built in the 7th century, Bhutan’s oldest monastery and a testament to the country’s rich religious heritage.
Continue to Kurjey Lhakhang, with its three temples including the one where Guru Padmasambhava meditated in the 8th century. It is revered as a sacred site of spiritual pilgrimage.
Visit Tamshing Lhakhang, founded in 1501 by Terton Pema Lingpa, this temple features ancient religious paintings and offers insight into Bhutan’s religious artistry and history.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before departing for Trongsa. The name ‘Trongsa’ translates to ‘the new village’ in Bhutanese, and it is renowned for its monastic retreats, temples, and hermitages.
Explore the grandeur of Trongsa Dzong, the largest dzong in Bhutan and a significant historical site. It holds particular importance as the birthplace of the ruling dynasty that unified Bhutan.
Next visit Ta Dzong, a watchtower towering over the east side of Trongsa Dzong. Transformed into the state-of-the-art National Museum, it offers a captivating glimpse into Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and is considered one of the nation’s most intriguing museums.
After an early breakfast, depart for Gangtey, a picturesque destination nestled at 3,000 meters above sea level. En route, marvel at the stunning black mountain ranges and the expansive beauty of Phobjikha Valley, renowned as one of Bhutan’s largest and most scenic valleys.
Phobjikha Valley is a vast U-shaped glacial valley celebrated for its scenic splendor and cultural uniqueness. It is Bhutan’s best-known marshland, offering a serene retreat amidst stunning natural surroundings.
During the journey, visit Wangdue Dzong, a majestic fortress perched on a ridge overlooking the confluence of the Punatsangchu and Dangchu rivers, offering panoramic views of Wangdue Phodrang town.
Immerse yourself in the tranquility and cultural richness of Gangtey before transferring back to your hotel, reflecting on the day’s memorable experiences.
Begin the day with breakfast before driving to Punakha. Along the way, enjoy scenic views as you make your way to this historical town.
In Punakha, explore the majestic Punakha Dzong, known as ‘the palace of great happiness or bliss’. This impressive fortress is the second largest dzong in Bhutan and holds significant cultural and religious importance.
Visit Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a round hillock near Punakha and adorned with hundreds of prayer flags. This monastery, built in 1499, is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kinley, known as ‘the Divine Madman’ or the ‘Mad Saint’
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a scenic drive back to Paro. Upon arrival in Paro, transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax and explore the charming town of Paro at your own pace.
Today, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey, taking with you unforgettable memories of Bhutan’s rich culture and stunning landscapes.
