VISA PROCEDURE FOR NEPAL
Tourist Visas:
Visa can be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, at border entry points in Kakadvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Gaddachowki on Nepal-India border and Kyirong on Nepal-China border. Visa can also be obtained at the nearest Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission at your home county. Visa can also be obtained for renewal purposes at Department of Immigration, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu.
Tourist Visa Requirements:
- An original passport with a minimum validity of 6 months and with at least two blank visa pages
- Recent passport size photo. The passport sized photo cannot be a cropped version taken from the passport itself and should be taken separately.
On Arrival Tourist Visa Fees
Multiple entry (15 days) = US$ 30
Multiple entry (30 days) = US$ 50
Multiple entry (90 days) = US$ 125
Transit Visa (24 hours) = US$ 5
Note: Visa can be obtained through payment of cash in US Dollars (or equivalent amount in Euro and British Pounds only). Travellers are strongly recommended to carry the precise visa fee in cash. For example, if applying for a 15 day on-arrival visa, it is advisable to have the exact fee of $30 or sum close to the amount.
Transit Visa
Foreign nationals having a transit in Nepal can obtain Transit Visa to enter into the country to spend a night (24 hours) by producing a proof of transit (Air ticket).Similarly, the foreign nationals arriving to Nepal due to untoward circumstances such as emergency or forced landing can acquire tourist visa if they want to leave the airport and visit the country.
Transit Visa applicants should fill out online Visa application, pay necessary Visa fee (5 USD) at the bank counter and proceed to Transit Visa desk after arriving at the airport for acquiring the Visa. Transit Visa is issued by Immigration Officer upon his/her satisfaction.

Other Information
Nationals from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan will need to obtain visa from Nepal Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries, as they do not get visa on arrival at the immigration entry points of Nepal.
Visa Extension
A tourist visa can be extended up to 120 days from the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu and Pokhara Immigration Office on request. Thereafter, an additional 30 days can be extended from the Department of Immigration ensuring that the tourist visa cannot be extended more than 150 days in a visa year i.e. January to December.
Visa Extension Fee:
For 15 days = $45
For each additional day: $3 per day
Note: Visa extension fee must be paid in Nepal Rupees and are subject to change.
