At Dharma Adventures, we are not just committed to providing incredible experiences, but also ensuring that our journeys contribute positively to the destinations we operate in. We recognize the importance of responsible tourism in preserving nature, cultural diversity, and empowering local communities in hope that our modest efforts to responsible tourism helps contribute to a sustainable world.
We affirm with the UNWTO's Global Ethics for Tourism and abide by its Sustainable tourism development and ethical practice guidelines. We ensure that journeys with us benefit both the destinations and the travelers hence we strive to work on management practices to create a suitable balance to achieve long-term sustainability.
From choosing eco-friendly transportation to advocating for responsible behavior among our travelers, we believe in leaving a positive footprint. We are committed to protecting the natural beauty and biodiversity of the destinations we explore. We stand against any form of wildlife exploitation and support ethical wildlife interactions. Our tours adhere to strict guidelines to prevent habitat disruption, support wildlife conservation efforts, and promote responsible outdoor activities.
We focus on responsible consumption and follow responsible waste segregation and disposal practices. We have incorporated strategies in our offices and tours to minimize single-use plastics, encourage recycling and leave no trace in natural areas. We actively support reforestation through partnerships with local organizations, we contribute to the regeneration of ecosystems, helping to counteract the effects of deforestation. Our commitment to minimizing environmental impact is an ongoing journey. We regularly assess our practices, seek innovative solutions, and adapt to evolving environmental standards and technologies.
Dharma Karma Society, formed in 2010, is a part of our CSR initiative to bring positive changes to the local people and the society. Dharma means good deed and Karma means the reciprocation of your deeds. Through Dharma Karma Society we want to empower and inspire as many lives as we can. Through this effort, we want to conserve the living cultural heritage and traditional values that we deeply respect.
We are dedicated to making a meaningful social impact in the destinations we serve. Our tours are designed to foster authentic cultural exchange, ensuring that local communities can highlight their unique stories and ways of life. From educational programs, community engagement, child welfare to women empowerment, our commitment extends beyond travel experiences to creating a positive change that empowers individuals and improves lives.
Responsible Tourism is a catalyst for positive economic growth, and we aim to ensure that the economic benefits generated by our operations create lasting and equitable prosperity for the communities we serve.
Our dedication lies in elevating the often overlooked segment within the tourism industry-the local communities. We actively promote cultural sensitivity and advocate for engagement in local customs, and practices. Furthermore, we encourage both travelers and partners to support local businesses in a manner that along with enhancing the financial wellbeing, also contributes to the growth of the local economy both in direct and indirect capacity. Our approach prioritizes the empowerment of indigenous communities and the preservation of their unique culture and artistry.
Ethical impact in tourism delves into the deeper understanding of the effects of travel on destinations, cultures, and the people. It embodies respect, responsibility, and consciousness, shaping how we engage with the world through travel.
We believe that change starts from within the organization, and the well-being of our team and partners is of utmost importance. We uphold and respect the rights of all people, regardless of their ethnicity, gender, or other characteristics. We strongly oppose any form of exploitation, discrimination, or any harmful practices. We ensure fair wages, safe and comfortable working conditions, and opportunities for professional growth. By treating our team with respect, we set a positive example for ethical labor practices and treat it as an essential element to achieve a positive outcome.
We are aware that all our strategies must evolve to meet new challenges of the dynamic world. We strive towards continuous improvement in responsible tourism guided by the belief that small changes, made consistently over time, can create a significant positive impact.
Dharma Adventures reaffirms our dedication to responsible tourism through the Dharma Karma Society, an integral part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at bringing positive changes to local communities and society at large.
Formed in 2010, the Dharma Karma Society embodies our core values: 'Dharma'—the virtue of good deeds, and 'Karma'—the cycle of cause and effect. Our approach targets key areas of social welfare that align with global humanitarian goals. Over the years, the Dharma Karma Society has actively engaged in numerous impactful activities, including social welfare programs, child welfare initiatives, and educational support. Additionally, we focus on women empowerment, fostering community initiatives, and promoting environmental conservation. Through these efforts, we strive to create sustainable and meaningful improvements in the lives of those we serve, demonstrating our commitment to ethical practices and the betterment of society.
Nepal faces a significant challenge with burn injuries, particularly among children under five, identified by the World Health Organization as the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the country. The Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Sankhu provides free Critical care to burn victims from low-income families. Our initiative seeks voluntary monetary contributions from staff, friends and family encouraging a minimum donation to cover the cost of at least one teddy bear. These teddy bears will be given to children undergoing treatment at the hospital, serving as both toys and comforting companions during their hospital stay. To enhance the impact, the company will match each staff donation. This initiative not only fosters a culture of philanthropy within our organization but also amplifies the collective impact of individual contributions. By giving, we aim to bring smiles to the faces of these resilient children and offer a source of joy during their recovery. Together, we extend a hand of compassion and support to those in need..
In many rural and impoverished areas, underprivileged children must contend with various challenges that hinder their educational journey. Poverty, remote locations, and lack of proper infrastructure are some of the key obstacles that keep these children away from the classroom. The main purpose of the Bicycle for Girls Project is to empower girls to be independent and mobile so they can reach school on time. We sponsor bicycles for girl students living outside the Chitwan National Park so they are able to save about 90 minutes daily commute to school. 100% of your contribution will be used for this project. Any remaining fund from the contribution will be used to buy school materials like stationary, books or school bags.
The girls that benefit from this project are all from marginalized families who live in the villages of Chitwan. While any kind of help is appreciated, buying bicycles to go to school and school materials will be more impactful.
