An interim government has been formed in Nepal. Sushila Karki, former Chief Justice, has been appointed as the interim Prime Minister, becoming the country’s first woman Prime Minister.

The curfew imposed in various cities has now been lifted, and public transportation has resumed normal operations. International airports remain open, and flights are operating as scheduled.

Tourist areas remain unaffected & shops, restaurants, and services are open. While life is resuming to normal, the nation continues to mourn the young lives lost and the damage inflicted on infrastructure during the movement. Encouragingly, the youth have taken the lead in cleaning up after the destruction, and roads have already been mostly cleared.

There is a strong sense of hope for a better and more stable future ahead.

While occasional delays are still possible, flight schedules are gradually returning to normal, and our team continues to monitor operations closely to keep travelers informed.

In Kathmandu and other key areas, the presence of the Nepalese Army and police has helped restore calm. Curfews and checkpoints remain in place, contributing to a safer environment for both locals and visitors. At the same time, discussions to form an interim government are progressing positively, offering hope for longer-term stability.

For travelers, it is reassuring that major tourist areas and heritage sites remain calm and unaffected. We continue to work closely with local partners to ensure safe and comfortable experiences.

Overall, the atmosphere is improving day by day, and we remain optimistic about continued progress in the days ahead. As always, guest safety and wellbeing are our highest priority, and we will continue to share timely updates as the situation develops.

Updated September 10, 2025

The past few days in Nepal have been intense, but today we are beginning to see encouraging signs of stabilization. Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu has reopened, and flights are gradually resuming.

The Nepalese Army has been deployed across key areas to help maintain order and ensure safety. Their presence is helping to create a calmer environment for both locals and travelers. At the same time, discussions are underway on how the nation will move forward, following the government’s resignation. These talks, alongside the army’s efforts, are aimed at guiding the country back toward stability in the coming days.

We are also heartened to see youths actively cleaning up roads and public spaces after the demonstrations. This community-led effort reflects resilience, unity, and a strong spirit of recovery.

For travelers, tourist districts, vehicles, and cultural sites have not been targeted, and groups currently in-country continue with their sightseeing programs without disruption.

We remain optimistic that the situation will continue to improve, and that a peaceful way forward for the nation will soon be reached. As always, guest safety and wellbeing remain our top priority, and we will continue to provide timely updates as things develop.
